Announcement: Restructuring of Statistical Physics Sections in Physical Review E (June 1, 2006)

Physical Review E has restructured the two sections dealing with statistical physics. The new structure becomes effective with the July 2006 issue. This change will hopefully lead to a more logical grouping of manuscripts.

The former sections 1, "Statistical physics of soft matter" (the first section in Part 1), and 10, "General methods of statistical physics" (the first section in Part 2), have been reorganized. General statistical physics papers will now appear in the new section 1, "Statistical physics." The new section 10, "Interdisciplinary physics," will include papers on complex and social networks, neural networks, transportation, econophysics, fracture mechanics, friction, and other topics of general interest to physicists. The new title of Part 1 is "Statistical, Soft Matter, and Biological Physics," and that of Part 2 is "Nonlinear and Plasma Physics, Fluid Dynamics, and Related Topics."
