Irwin Oppenheim of MIT is retiring from the senior Editorship of Physical Review E. Irwin has been leading PRE since the journal came into existence in 1993. Under Irwin's editorship PRE has grown substantially, maintaining a high standard while attracting authors and papers from a number of new fields. He also oversaw the successful establishment of the online version of the journal. The breadth of Irwin's knowledge and research interests, not to mention his prodigious energy, has been a great asset to PRE.
