The target, unstable periodic orbits embedded in chaotic attractors are obtained from chaotic time series in terms of the delay coordinates technique. We demonstrate its efficiency for periodically forced, single- and two-degree-of-freedom systems consisting of one or two pendula in numerical simulations and experiments. © 2002 The American Physical Society URL:
