E 64, 026405 (2001) [5 pages]Harmonics generation in electron-ion collisions in a short laser pulseReceived 30 March 2001; published 18 July 2001 Anomalously high generation efficiency of coherent higher field harmonics in collisions between oppositely charged particles in the field of femtosecond lasers is predicted.
